What I Learned ( So Far )

i was browsing my old notes.. suddenly, i saw my note when i was in high school. these includes what i had learned in my experiences.. kasama na din ung mga quotes passed by my friends..

In my 20 years of living, I've had many experiences and encounters that taught me a lot about growing up, living and loving. let me share some of them. Here they are:

On Self:

1. Love yourself first. Paano ka mamahalin ng iba kung d mo mahal ang sarili mo..? You cannot love others, and even God at that, if you don't love yourself first.

2. Accept yourself. hahaFeel that you're beautiful. It is in being different that each of us is special.

3. God doesn't make junk!you are special..believe it..

4. Accept your vulnerability.

5. If you're hurt, sad, angry, admit it to yourself. Process it out. If you must, cry. It's okay to cry. But after that, don't cry anymore. Move on!

6. Some pains remain a part of our life. It hurts sometimes even as time passes by. But don't let the pain cripple you.

7. Don't think that everything in your life is all messed up. Maybe God allowed it to get messed up so you can straighten things out.

8. Sometimes you have to make mistakes so that you'll realize it's not the answer to your problems. Or maybe, the mistakes will lead you to the right answers.

9. The heart is strong. Even though it gets hurt easily, it heals. It makes up for the hurt by recovering.

10. Happiness is your own responsibility. It's not other people's job to make you happy.

On Others:

1. Being kind to others will get you far.

2. Be respectful.

3. Treat people the way you would like them to treat you.

4. You cannot please everybody. Accept that. Never do anything to please everybody.

5. Don't change just so people will like you better. You're bound to find someone who will accept you as you are.

6. Be a friend, and you'll gain friends. But choose your friends wisely. The saying is true; "Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are."

7. Don't backstab. Don't talk about others behind their backs.

8. Think first before saying something. Sometimes, less talk, less mistake.

9. It's okay to fight for yourself if you feel you're being wronged. But know the difference between standing up for yourself and being quarrelsome. Use your fists as your last resort.

10. Don't be nasty. Don't take advantage of others.

11. Understand and forgive people who are mean to you or who don't understand you. Show that you're more mature than them.

12. Never allow other to make you feel inferior about yourself. Sometimes, they're not the enemy, it's you. You are your own worst enemy.

13. "Be who you are and say what you feel. Because the ones who matter do not mind, and the ones who mind, don't matter."-Dr. Seuss

On Love:

1. Love is for everyone. Not just for people who are beautiful or who look like the people in Hollywood.

2. Don't think you're not gonna get a boyfriend/girlfriend. There's someone for everybody.

3. Don't go after someone who's not that into you.

4. Don't tell your crush you like him. It's pretty embarrassing. Be friends first, and move slowly.

5. Love is like a Math problem. Trial and error first before you find the right one.

6. Love doesn't have a deadline. It can come anytime in your life. That's why there's a song called "Endless Love".

7. Sometimes, you have to practice "tough love". You don't shield the person from hurtful experiences, you allow it so that he/she will learn.

8. Love isn't giving everything of yourself away. Spare some for yourself.

On Success:

1. Success isn't always defined by money or fame. Yes, we need money, but don't make it the center of your life.

2. Dream on. But do something about your dreams. Take action!

3. Being successful also means being happy and grateful.

4. Find a good mentor who will help you achieve your dreams. "Surround yourself with people who will only lift you higher".-Oprah

5. Never say never!

On Life:

1. As a high school student, I felt really bad because I couldn't make it to the honors' list. I was really envious of the smartest girl in class. But later on, I realized that not being an honor student doesn't make me less of a person. Smartness doesn't always equate to a gold medal. (pampakunswelo? haha)

2. Don't be in a hurry all the time. Be patient. Sometimes you have to wait.

3. Don't shut your heart so tight against life's pain that you shut out life's blessings.

4. When God closes a door, he opens the window. Or the entire roof. God doesn't answer our prayers the way we want Him to because it means He's gonna give us something better.

5. If we put all our problems in a pile and see the problems of other people, we'd gladly take ours back. I realized this is true. Everything has drawbacks. You can be very rich but not really happy, or you may not have everything but you're thankful. It's a matter of how we see things.

6. Don't wish for the life of other people. Be thankful that you're alive and you're blessed.

7. Don't wish to be someone else. It's wasting the person that you are. God gave you that role, so play it well!

8. Be humble. Especially when you're looking better than before. You will be tempted to become haughty because you've gotten prettier, but don't let this get to your head. Remember, you were ugly once.

9. Don't wish ill on your enemy. The best revenge is to forgive and live well.

10. Don't run through life so fast, that you forget not only where you're going, but also where you've been.

11. Peace is not found in what surrounds us, but in what we hold within.

I still have a long journey ahead of me. I admit that I don't know everything, but with faith in God, I can face anything.
